admire your research into biological conditions, sounds like you know of which you speak…an upsetting episode though, I would have hoped that cancer was a forgotten word in 3990…powerful words and art as always Cheryl…
Hi John, that’s a good point, as in theory cancer and many other diseases were cured hundreds of years before 3990. However technology was stunted around the time Anesidor Sumian was a small child, and restrictions were placed on many of the scientific achievements made over the two thousand years spanning our time and theirs. In effect a lot of technology was lost or hidden. At the point when this story is set, cancer is still curable, but the catalyst which Alex and Katherine have been infected with, induces new incurable forms of otherwise ancient diseases. There have also been restrictions on treatment.
