Alexand and the rest of the resistance have settled in a cave in the mountains of Southern Russia. Alexand has scanned the area; there are no inhabitants for hundreds of miles. Inajda has illuminated a map on the far cave wall, showing the topography for two hundred square miles. She scrolls through the map, until she reaches the nearest settlement.
I liked that bit of humour there. I don’t know how they even have the strength to go on, much less laugh, after all they’ve been through!
Thanks, Carolee, yes they’ve got a lot more stamina and perseverance than I’d have in that situation. (I’d be in the foetal position…I’m glad I’m the writer) 🙂
Inajda’s is such an interesting perspective on the story; I love how you add so much depth of feeling and meaning to your stories. Wonderful drawings again.
Hi Richard, thank you. I’ve waited a long time to fully introduce Inajda’s perspective. She’s been on the peripheral (deep under cover) for decades, and I’m almost as excited as Alex, to actually be in her company, at the moment.
