I think this is the first time we (or at least I) have heard Katherine speaking in first person. Alex is such an endearing character.
Hi Vera, yes Alex is lovely isn’t she. I think we should all have an Alex in our lives. Alex is based in part on my Mum, who won’t recognise herself if she were to read these stories. But she, like Alex, is like sunshine, brightening up people’s lives no matter how many bad things happen. It’s a crafty way for me to keep her with me forever.
Great characters Cheryl, you draw me right into their private scene of what’s coming their way.

Hi Cheryl! This is brilliant. The pacing reminds me of a nouvelle vague film; I really like the way you’re ratcheting up the tension by showing us what is at stake. Will we get to see Alex unleashing her anger? Love the picture of Katherine in her sunglasses – glamourous and doomed, but they’re both beautiful pictures as always.
Hi Richard, thank you, yes Katherine always reminded Heyem of an old 20th century movie star, (Kat’s very elegant but she’s completely oblivious to the fact, bless her, which is one of the reasons Alex was so obsessed with her initially) I’ve just googled nouvelle vague, and I need to go and watch some French films from that genre, they sound very interesting and experimental. Yes, we will see Alexand in “fury mode” some time in the future. She has anger issues despite her apparent sweetness, as you’ve guessed! I think this is some of your strongest, most captivating writing, darling. I can’t wait to see if Katherine and Alex find the cure. Of course, these are two of my favourite characters – they’ve become dear to me — so I’m quite emotionally invested in their continued well-being! (Don’t make me go all crazed fan on you! Ha ha)
Ah, I know all about crazed fan girl. I think Alex and Kat are in the process of getting a restraining order against me for harassing them these past few months! Snooping into their lives like I’m some omnipresent overlord. They’ve asked me to butt out of their private lives but I just can’t help myself. I have to keep writing.
