  1. I marvel at how you manage to keep track of all the different stories you write. I have problems following all them, but then I have certain favourites amongst them that I look forward to read, each time a new addition is added.

    1. Thanks Marcus, yes, Mr. Ash is probably the most vile character I’ve written, but he has a history which would explain this. Humanising him enough for me to continue writing for him. (Although he does make me nauseous occasionally.)

    1. Hi Russell, yes, it’s difficult to write for Mr Ash, as he is actually quite hideous, and I find myself sanitising some of his thoughts.

  2. Hi Cheryl! There’s a really nice ambiguity to this issue. If the sound of screaming enables Mr Ash to imagine a world beyond this one – is it because he finds the sound so pleasing? Or because he can’t imagine a worse situtation to be in. He’s not a straightforward torturer for sure. Love the drawing – you’ve really captured his desire.

    1. Hi richard, thank you, yes Mr Ash is the kind of man who has been conditioned to dehumanise people to enable him to carry out atrocities. It’s difficult to translate a character like him without seeming insensitive to what’s actually occurring and has occurred throughout history in various parts of the world. I’m always reticent to go too far with fiction, although he does feature more in some of the manuscripts.

    1. Thank you, I’m enjoying looking at your illustrations and love your style. My favourite so far is “Wide Awake,” as I love the way you’ve applied the paint/ink to the paper.

    1. Thanks Vera, it’s strange to write for this type of character in this style, but I’m really glad it works, as I think it emphasises how egocentric he is! Yep he’s a very bad man with semi pretty thoughts clanking around in his messed up brain. 😀
