  1. Aaaaand now I have to go read Ancille’s back story. Honestly, darling, are you capable of creating a character that I can just ignore? Also, that second drawing — with the sword and bow drawn — brilliant! And seeing the picture of Aunt Heyem makes me want to read more about her as well. I need more hours in my day.

    1. Sorry about that Helena, I’m just so obsessed with writing them and can’t stop. I’m glad you’re caught up in it (evil laughter) and Heyem would definitely appreciate a visit 🙂 I have more of her stories planned for the future. (Evil laughter reverberates around my room) Thanks, glad you like the second drawing, it took a while to research that one!

  2. We are the readers. We need to keep the story alive by reading the story. Otherwise, the writer wouldn’t be able to fix Ancille’s s wounds. I want to say more, but I am going to wait to see what happens to the saboteurs. (Ha! I haven’t been able to say that word for ages. Thanks to Cheryl, I have been able to at least think it! Those darn saboteurs!)

    1. That has a great beat to it “Those darn saboteurs!” Now it’s in my head too and I can’t get it out! Glad you like this, and once again thanks so much for suggesting an Ancille story, Lee.

    1. Me too, Vera, I love writing for Ancille and Alex as their relationship reminds me of the deep love I have for my own mother, who is just an amazing woman, and deserves to be immortalised in parts of Alexand’s personality. In a way I can capture the relationship I have with my Mum and keep it safe in fiction forever (Although she wouldn’t recognise herself!!) 😀

  3. You recently clicked like on one of my posts, thereby introducing me to you. I’m very thankful you did! I love your site and look forward to catching up on your posts and receiving future ones. Your site is amazing!

  4. Hi Cheryl! Beautifully written and very believable bit of bonding. Love the drawings again. Like the way they’ve shifted from nostalgic in the last issue to present in this. Ace!

    1. Thanks Richard, It’s quite a joy to write for Alex and Ancille, and I’m glad I can share this story with you. Glad you like it. BTW I need to go and check out your blog and see if you’ve taken more street portraits. Hope you enjoyed your work break. (If there is such a thing!) See you there!

  5. Love the sabotage aspect! Do you realize how lovely these stories are?? It’s so wonderful that you have so many great stories.

  6. I am touched by this story. It’s also the way you describe their profound situation and how they battle it together…a remarkable way you have portrayed their synergy to go on.

You’ve given me an afternoon of inspiration!

  7. Thanks for following my blog. Your illustrations are amazing!
I need to set some time aside to read your stories. =D

    1. Thank you, Lee that means a lot. I’ve also found and followed your alternative blog as I’m enjoying your poetry and short stories. Glad you like it here too. Cheryl.

    1. Thank you! BTW your photography is amazing, especially the shots you have of herons in motion! I’m enjoying browsing and am very glad you stopped here and like my work too. It’s good to meet you.

  8. I love how Alex’s character has shaped up!..from a little girl to a grown woman and mother! & the way she embraced her baldness is commendable!

    1. Thanks, Apurva, yes Alex took a while to adjust, but she’s a strong woman, and I’m very proud of her 🙂 I’m glad you like her!

  9. Hi Cheryl. Your blog is simply wonderful. Both your writing and your illustrations are superb. I will have to start from the beginning. But I already find it fascinating. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I appreciate it.

  10. Hi Cheryl-dear.
I have been thinking about you every day. I have been going “at electric speed” and I cannot find enough minutes in the day unless I cut my sleep in half (which I’m doing). I wanted to hear about publication info as well if you care to share. Just write me at info@thepointofthequill.com.
You have a rare and precious gift and, in addition, are a very kindhearted soul. The combination is nearly unheard of in the human species. 😉 I am winking but downright serious at the same time. I am cheering you on!

    Love to you,
    Lee

    1. Hi Lee, it’s really good to hear from you. I know what you mean by “electric speed,” as I also have a lot less time at the moment 😀 Aw, ty for the complements, I’ll probably displace that onto Alex and Katherine , as they are both kindhearted souls, and so are you:) I’ll send you an email, my address is landlessdesignATgmail.com Cheryl
