    1. Hi, thank you, but I really need more practice when drawing clothing, it’s still one of my weakest points and takes a lot of concentration. (That and hands! :D) I’ve left a comment on your post.

      1. thanks Cherylmoore. Yes, clothing, fabric draping, folds, etc. are SO difficult to draw and that’s what fashion designers, sewers, etc. are expected to draw. Even if they are not illustrators and as talented as you! But, we trek on….

    1. I like the Louisiana setting. Eldenath’s been living there for a few years but was originally from Nigeria. There’s going to be some more in this batch of stories in the future, although I’m not going to give too much away as this scrapes the beginning of the first manuscript.

  11. “There is no such thing as a strong woman.”
    This line especially struck me as I’ve just finished reading a message from a cousin who is working as a nurse in Afghanistan right now. She is the only woman in the entire camp and she wrote that the local men stare at her because they’ve never seen a woman in anything but an entirely submissive role.
    Your illustration powerfully captures a sense of captivity.

    1. Hi Bill, thank you, the idea of future empowerment makes me quite hopeful whilst writing for certain characters. Eldenath deserves a better life, as do many other real life women (and men) in vulnerable positions. I’m glad it translates. Cheryl

    1. Thanks, Sophie, I’m not sure any more. I’ve spent twenty years getting to know these characters. Some of them are based on aspects of real people and feelings.
