  1. I love your illustrations. They are very expressive and the clothes look very real. I am not an artist or illustrator, (nor are many people in fashion design and sewing, but it is an important part of the process) and If you’re up to it, I’d love you to check out my post on fashion illustration and we’d love you to comment with any tips you may have on drawing the clothed figure. Here is the link. http://wp.me/p2XTOJ-7g Thanks!

    1. Hi, thank you, but I really need more practice when drawing clothing, it’s still one of my weakest points and takes a lot of concentration. (That and hands! :D) I’ve left a comment on your post.

      1. thanks Cherylmoore. Yes, clothing, fabric draping, folds, etc. are SO difficult to draw and that’s what fashion designers, sewers, etc. are expected to draw. Even if they are not illustrators and as talented as you! But, we trek on….

    1. I like the Louisiana setting. Eldenath’s been living there for a few years but was originally from Nigeria. There’s going to be some more in this batch of stories in the future, although I’m not going to give too much away as this scrapes the beginning of the first manuscript.

  2. Love your work ! Your drawings are really fantastic, I wish that I could illustrate my own work but unfortunately I cannot draw! sophiebowns.wordpress.com .

    1. Hi Richard, thank you so much!!! BTW congratulations for all your awards, you deserve them. I love your photography 🙂 I hope you have a great Christmas and New Year. Cheryl

  3. “There is no such thing as a strong woman.”
This line especially struck me as I’ve just finished reading a message from a cousin who is working as a nurse in Afghanistan right now. She is the only woman in the entire camp and she wrote that the local men stare at her because they’ve never seen a woman in anything but an entirely submissive role.
Your illustration powerfully captures a sense of captivity.

    1. Hi Bill, thank you, the idea of future empowerment makes me quite hopeful whilst writing for certain characters. Eldenath deserves a better life, as do many other real life women (and men) in vulnerable positions. I’m glad it translates. Cheryl

  4. Where do you get the inspiration for your fiction from? Is it from personal experience? Like I’ve said before I love your drawings! They are so full of emotion! sophiebowns.wordpress.com

    1. Thanks, Sophie, I’m not sure any more. I’ve spent twenty years getting to know these characters. Some of them are based on aspects of real people and feelings.
