Unbound Boxes Limping Gods: Disconnected Stories. Issue # 110: Farokh Merek Part 3

(This story is the first in a long series, which will continue on into the New Year. I hope you enjoy it and thank you for reading!) Farokh has lived with his uncle Antun, after the death of his father, Eric. (The absence of the rest of his family, Alexand, Heyem and Inajda, haunts him). He spends a lot of his time wandering the streets, dreaming of escaping his claustrophobic village. He has just turned fifteen and is waiting for a chance to ride to India so he can join the army to be with his favourite sister, Alexand. CLICK HERE for next chronological story.

  1. Hi Cheryl! What a great start. Beautifully captured yearning and I love the idea of a recruitment cart – so medieval seeming. And Farokh’s expression in the drawing is spot on (when I was a teenager I had a friend who perfected that face). Can’t wait for part two.

    1. Hi Helena, yes, he’s Alex’s brother. (We’ll see Alex in the next issue, and she won’t be pleased he’s joined the army!) Thanks for reading, glad you’re enjoying this series, can’t wait to release the next issue!

  2. Every time I visit, I’m glad I did. Was pointed here by a certain dilettante, and she didn’t steer me wrong. I look forward to reading the rest of this story arc.

    1. Hi H, aha, you were referred by my favourite dilettante. Escapism is definitely a positive side effect of Weltschmerz, there’s a lot of it on this blog. Glad you’re enjoying this longer story.
